I’ve had my Instagram account for some time now but it wasn’t long until I ran out of cool things to post and gave up with posting frequently. I went to posting on a fortnightly basis of whatever I was up to or involved in at the time and that was that. It wasn’t until I started researching more popular Instagram accounts that I found out that you could earn on Instagram

I discovered advertisers and brands who work with well known pages and you didn’t need millions of followers to start working with a particular company. You can have as little as 1000 followers and still be able to pitch your Instagram page to brands (albeit smaller brands) to get commission.

My Instagram (@evvo1991) currently has just over 1500 followers, nothing substancial by any means. Yet I’ve still had the honour of working with three brands since I started taking an interest in Instagram marketing only a few short months ago.

Most people think that it’s just an easy task of pointing your camera at something. Just taking a picture and making loads of money. If it was that easy everyone would be doing it! The simple fact is, that’s just not the case. What you really need to do is focus on a niche for your page if you want to use your Instagram in the right way.

Focus your content around your niche and then once you build up your followers through a variety of Instagram marketing techniques. You can then reach out to brands in regards to collaborations or who knows, brands may even reach out to you! If you love sports target your page to sports posts personal to you. If you love movies target your posts around your movie passions and explorations. Make it stand out and make it personal. Throw in your own personality and make your page unique to you and only you.

For those who need a little help with Instagram Marketing there are various pieces of content all over Google giving you advice. Sadly most of the time it’s from people who have very small followings themselves. That kind of advice isn’t reliable or trustworthy. You need someone who has a proven track record and someone who you know can back up everything they are preaching. Hence why it’s no good me giving you advice with my teeny tiny 1500 followers. I thought I’d share with you people who have a few more zero’s on the end of their following numbers. I’m still learning just like you. But somehow i’ve managed to enjoy working with brands in this very early stage of development.

Instagram Marketing 101 is a book I found online created by Instagrammer @julesmarcoux. An author of three books and with an Instagram following of over 200,000 that certainly backs up his credability. I’d certainly reccommend this product or any of the products listed below as a guide.  A starting point to lay the foundations for growing and monetising your Instagram account.
