Go RED With Apple

Apple introduced new red-colored iPhone 7 and 7 Plus models commemorating its 10 year partnership with (RED), the initiative to eradicate AIDS. For every phone that is sold from the (RED) Special Edition collection, Apple is donating an amount to the (RED) fund.

Since it was founded in 2006, (RED) has generated more than $465 million for the Global Fund, with more than $130 million from Apple alone.

The phones certainly look different visually than what we’ve come to expect, the white glossy finish on the front blended with the darker red on the back has faced some criticism, but it shouldn’t be about the design. You’re buying a new product and helping a good cause at the same time and that’s what it’s all about.

“Since we began working with (RED) 10 years ago, our customers have made a significant impact in fighting the spread of AIDS through the purchase of our products, from the original iPod nano (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition all the way to today’s lineup of Beats products and accessories for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s ceo, in a statement. “The introduction of this special edition iPhone in a gorgeous red finish is our biggest (PRODUCT)RED offering to date in celebration of our partnership with (RED), and we can’t wait to get it into customers’ hands.”

The new red iPhones are expected by the end of this month; advance orders will start on Friday (March 24). The iPhone 7 with it’s 4.7 inch display will be priced at£699 and the iPhone 7 plus with a 5.5 inch display will be priced at £819 with monthly financing options available.
